While crunching numbers may have been her first love, Katy Murphy's passion for real estate is demonstrated through her talent for finding the perfect home and property for those wishing to relocate or build in Shelby County and surrounding areas within Alabama. Now, Katy has combined her accounting and financial expertise with her passion for real estate to establish KM Realty.

A graduate of Mississippi State, Katy earned her Bachelor's Degree in Accounting immediately followed by a Masters in Professional Accounting. Soon after, she obtained her CPA and has spent more than a decade working in public accounting. Married in 2005 to licensed builder, Kyle Murphy, Katy grew to love all aspects of real estate from new construction to flipping houses to investing in rental properties, Katy and Kyle have served their community well as business owners of Murphy Home Builders and members of the Greater Birmingham Association of Home Builders (GBAHB).

In 2017, Katy obtained her real estate license and followed it with a broker's license in 2020. She has unique and broad experience, from working with newly constructed homes to helping future home buyers recognize the potential of revitalizing older infrastructures. It is evident that Katy loves what she does -- because she puts her clients' needs and best interests at the heart of everything she does.

Katy founded her own real estate company in 2020, and is looking forward to helping many future home buyers find their perfect sanctuary or homeowners sell their current home. Katy and Kyle have three beautiful children. They attend Morningstar Methodist Church and love calling Chelsea, Alabama home.
